View Larger Booked the band Mobley out of Austin for the last Thursday of May to play with our always lovely resident band The Great 85. Went with a Star Wars theme poster to go with this months Art Slam theme at the Limelight.
So I am a big sucker for the late 90’s mid-west indie sound. I am a huge fan of Braid, The Get Up Kids, Rainer Maria, American Football, The Promise Ring, Camden, etc. So it was with a great thrill that I stumbled onto Houston based Football Etc. who hit on that sound like a dart to a bulls eye. They capture the raw emotion so entrenched in that genre and era that it takes me back to my youth and makes me feel alive again.
I liked it so much that I had to have them play here in town! They will be playing with Yes, Inferno on June 17th for their CD release show along with The Grasshopper Lies Heavy.
